I'm a retired disabled Army veteran. I entered the Army as a Private First Class in 1983 and retired as a Brigadier General in 2018. A primarily self-taught artist I work in scratchboard, which is considered one of the most difficult art mediums. My work has appeared in art shows in Virginia, California, New York, Arkansas, North Carolina, and Florida. I presented my work in a solo show held at the historic Malco Theater in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Most recently I was selected as 1 of the 15 Emerging Artists in Tampa and featured with others at the Gasparilla Festival of the Arts in March 2022. I love dogs, am married, and have a daughter and three grandchildren. Each of my scratchboard pieces is a one-of-a-kind original.
My earlier work that focused on humanitarian subjects was influenced by my experiences in the Army. I worked closely with civilians and foreign government staff in various conflict zones or humanitarian crises. I saw the impacts of war on a very personal level through these people.
